وَمُحمَرَّةٍand a crimson one تَختالُstruts فيin ثَوبِa robe of سُندُسٍfine silk
وَمُحمَرَّةٍ تَختالُ في ثَوبِ سُندُسٍ
كَوَجنَةِlike the cheek of مَحبوبٍa beloved أَطَلَّhas appeared عِذارُهُhis cheek-down
كَوَجنَةِ مَحبوبٍ أَطَلَّ عِذارُهُ
And a crimson bloom struts in a robe of fine silk,
And a crimson one, strutting in a robe of fine silk,
like a beloved’s cheek where the first down peeps out;
Like a beloved's cheek where his down has begun to show,
كَتَطريفِlike the henna-tipping of كَفٍّa hand قَدalready أَحاطَتhave encircled بَنانُهُits fingers
كَتَطريفِ كَفٍّ قَد أَحاطَت بَنانُهُ
بِقَلبِaround the heart of مُحِبٍّa lover لَيسَdoes not يَخبُوdie down أُوارُهُits blaze
بِقَلبِ مُحِبٍّ لَيسَ يَخبُو أُوارُهُ
like henna tipping a hand whose fingers have closed around
Like the hennaed tips of a hand whose fingers have closed
the heart of a lover whose passion’s blaze never dies.
Around a lover's heart whose blaze never dies down.
