ويسلو سلوة من بَعد بُعد

وينسبه الشقيق إلى الشقاق

and find solace after separation,

And finds solace from afar

and be accused of discord by his own brother?

While his own brother ascribes it to discord

واقسم بالعناق وتلك أشقى

واقسم بالعناق وتلك أشقى

وأوفى من يميني بالعتاق

وأوفى من يميني بالعتاق

And I swear by the embrace—that oath is more grievous

I swear by the embrace - though it causes much pain -

and more faithfully kept than my oath by manumission.

It is more faithful than my oath of manumission

لقد الصقت بي ظنا ظنينا

You have indeed pinned a dubious suspicion on me,

You have certainly clung to me out of suspicion

whose two sides shrink from adhering.

While his sides draw away from adhesion
