خَتمُكَ الجَامِعَ الصَّحِيحِ كَرَامَهُ
يَتْبَعُfollows الفَوزُsuccess يَومَهَاits day وَالسَّلاَمَهْand safety
يَتْبَعُ الفَوزُ يَومَهَا وَالسَّلاَمَهْ
Your completion of al-Jamiʿ al-Sahih is an honor;
Your perfect and complete fasting has honored you,
On its day, success and safety follow.

حَقَّقَmay He fulfill اللهُGod مَاwhat تَمَنَّيتَyou wished for مِنهَاfrom it
حَقَّقَ اللهُ مَا تَمَنَّيتَ مِنهَا
عِزَّةًhonor فِيin الدُّنَاthis world وَدَارِand the abode of المَقَامَهْpermanence
عِزَّةً فِي الدُّنَا وَدَارِ المَقَامَهْ
May God fulfill what you hoped to gain from it:
God has granted what you wished from it,
Honor in this world and the everlasting abode.
Honor in life and the abode of eternity.
دَعوَةٌa prayer تَملأfills القُلُوبَthe hearts ارْتِيَاحاًwith gladness
دَعوَةٌ تَملأ القُلُوبَ ارْتِيَاحاً
وَعَلَىand of صِدقِهَاits sincerity الخُشُوعُreverent humility عَلاَمَهْa sign
وَعَلَى صِدقِهَا الخُشُوعُ عَلاَمَهْ
A prayer that fills hearts with gladness,
A supplication that fills hearts with comfort,
And reverent humility is a sign of its sincerity.
And sincerity bows to its mark.
سِيمَاespecially وَالخِتَامُand the completion فِيat سَلخِthe close of شَهرٍa month
سِيمَا وَالخِتَامُ فِي سَلخِ شَهرٍ
عَظمَexalted اللهُGod لِلعَبِيدِfor the servants صِيَامَهُits fasting
عَظمَ اللهُ لِلعَبِيدِ صِيَامَهُ
Especially as the completion comes at the close of a month
Especially since the end is in the departure of a month,
Whose fasting God has exalted for His servants.
God has made fasting great for His servants.
لاَnot يُرَدُّis turned away الدُّعَاءُprayer فِيهِin it مُضَاماًslighted
لاَ يُرَدُّ الدُّعَاءُ فِيهِ مُضَاماً
عِندَمَاwhen يَحضُرُattends المُطِيعُthe obedient one طَعَامَهْhis meal
عِندَمَا يَحضُرُ المُطِيعُ طَعَامَهْ
There, no prayer is turned away, denied its due,
Supplication therein is not refused when
When the obedient one comes to his meal.
The obedient attends to his food.
ذَاكَthat بَحْرُthe sea of الحَدِيثِhadith لِيسَis not علَىupon مَنْone who
ذَاكَ بَحْرُ الحَدِيثِ لِيسَ علَى مَنْ
ظَلَّkept on يَروِيnarrating الغَرِيبَrare reports منْهُfrom it مَلاَمَهblame
ظَلَّ يَروِي الغَرِيبَ منْهُ مَلاَمَه
That is the sea of hadith; no blame rests on one
That is an ocean of hadeeth, not to be blamed is one,
Who keeps narrating its rare reports.
Who narrates its strange narrations.
خُضْتَyou waded يَاO ابنَson of الحُسَينِal-Husayn فِيهِinto it بِجِسمٍwith a body
خُضْتَ يَا ابنَ الحُسَينِ فِيهِ بِجِسمٍ
وَبِنَفْسٍand with a soul بَعِيدَةٍfar removed عَنْfrom سَآمَهْweariness
وَبِنَفْسٍ بَعِيدَةٍ عَنْ سَآمَهْ
You waded into it, O son of al-Husayn, with your body
You have dived, O son of Hussein, into it with a body,
And a soul far from weariness.
And a soul far from boredom.
بَعْدَafter عَامٍa year تَسِيرُyou journey سَيراًa journey دِرَاكاًuninterrupted
بَعْدَ عَامٍ تَسِيرُ سَيراً دِرَاكاً
كُلَّevery يَومٍday بِرِحلَةٍon a journey فِيin إقَامَهْresidence
كُلَّ يَومٍ بِرِحلَةٍ فِي إقَامَهْ
After a year of steadily journeying onward,
After a year you walk steadily,
Each day on a journey while remaining in place,
Every day on a journey of residency.
تَطْلُبُyou seek الوَصلَunion مِنْfrom حَبِيبٍa beloved بِقَوْلٍthrough speech
تَطْلُبُ الوَصلَ مِنْ حَبِيبٍ بِقَوْلٍ
قَدْindeed أصَبْتَyou attained it وَقَدْand indeed سَمِعْتَyou heard كَلاَمَهْhis words
قَدْ أصَبْتَ وَقَدْ سَمِعْتَ كَلاَمَهْ
Seeking union with a beloved through speech,
You seek connection from a beloved with words,
You have attained it and have heard his words—
You have attained and you have heard His speech.
لؤلُؤاًpearls سِلْكُهُits string المَسَامِعُthe ears لَكِنْyet
لؤلُؤاً سِلْكُهُ المَسَامِعُ لَكِنْ
طَوَّقَencircled الرُّوحَthe soul مِنهُfrom it طَوقُthe collar of الحَمَامهْthe dove
طَوَّقَ الرُّوحَ مِنهُ طَوقُ الحَمَامهْ
Pearls whose string is the ears; yet
Pearls whose hearing is strung, but
The dove's collar, drawn from it, has encircled the soul.
A collar of pigeons has adorned the soul.
عَدَّcounted جَمْعَthe collection of المِئِينَthe hundreds منهُfrom it جَلِيلٌan eminent one
عَدَّ جَمْعَ المِئِينَ منهُ جَلِيلٌ
لاَيُجَارِىunrivaled وكَانَand was عِزَّthe glory of تَمَامِهْits completion
لاَيُجَارِى وكَانَ عِزَّ تَمَامِهْ
An eminent one tallied the hundreds gathered from it,
Counting its hundreds is great, a venerable one,
Unrivaled, and was the glory of its completion.
Who has no match and was the peak of its perfection.
كُلُّevery لَفْظٍword لِكُلّfor every عَقلٍmind حَيَاةٌlife
كُلُّ لَفْظٍ لِكُلّ عَقلٍ حَيَاةٌ
لاَأقُولُI do not say كَمَاas يُقَالُis said مُدامَهْwine
لاَأقُولُ كَمَا يُقَالُ مُدامَهْ
Every word is life for every mind;
Every word gives life to every living intellect,
I do not call it wine, as others do.
I do not say as some may say to flatter.
أيُّwhat شَيءٍthing يَلَذُّgives pleasure بَعْدَafter خِطَابٍspeech
أيُّ شَيءٍ يَلَذُّ بَعْدَ خِطَابٍ
مِنْfrom عَزِيزِthe precious one of الوُجُودِexistence فَحلِchampion of القِيامَهthe Resurrection
مِنْ عَزِيزِ الوُجُودِ فَحلِ القِيامَه
What can bring pleasure after speech
What pleasure is there after the speech
From existence's precious one, the champion of the Resurrection?
Of the Dear One of existence, so resolve the stand.
فَاهْنَإِso rejoice الآنَnow بِالوِصَالِin union لِوَقْتٍat a time
فَاهْنَإِ الآنَ بِالوِصَالِ لِوَقْتٍ
مَوسِمُthe season of الفِطرِbreaking the fast فِيهِin it مَدَّpitched خيَامَهits tents
مَوسِمُ الفِطرِ فِيهِ مَدَّ خيَامَه
So rejoice now in union, at a time
So congratulate now for a time of connection,
When the festival of fast-breaking has pitched its tents.
The feast of break fast, in it the tents are pitched.
أتَرَاهُdo you think it أتَىcame يُهَنِّيكَcongratulates you عَمَّاon what
أتَرَاهُ أتَى يُهَنِّيكَ عَمَّا
أوجَبَordained الحَقُّthe True One أنْthat يَكُونَbe أمَامَهbefore it
أوجَبَ الحَقُّ أنْ يَكُونَ أمَامَه
Do you think it came to congratulate you on what
Do you think He has come to congratulate you for what
The True One ordained should precede it?
The Truth has obliged to be ahead of Him?
فَهْوَfor it is عِيدٌa festival لَهُfor it وُجُودُكَyour presence عِيدٌa festival
فَهْوَ عِيدٌ لَهُ وُجُودُكَ عِيدٌ
عَمَّهُmay He envelop it اللهُGod بِالرّضَىwith favor وَأدَامَهand make it endure
عَمَّهُ اللهُ بِالرّضَى وَأدَامَه
For it is a festival; your presence is a festival for it.
For it is a celebration for Him and your existence a celebration,
May God enfold it in favor and make it endure.
May God extend it with pleasure and perpetuate it.
أيُّهَاO you المُسْتَجَادُthe esteemed one فِيin كُلّevery مَحلٍstation
أيُّهَا المُسْتَجَادُ فِي كُلّ مَحلٍ
وَهْوَand he فِيin المُلكِthe realm فِيin مَحَلّthe place of العِمامَهthe turban
وَهْوَ فِي المُلكِ فِي مَحَلّ العِمامَه
O you esteemed in every station,
O you who is sought out in every situation,
Who hold the turban's place within the realm,
And you are in leadership in the position of the turban.
مَاnot عَرَفْنَاwe have known مِنَamong الكَلاَمِspeech نَفِيساًsomething precious
مَا عَرَفْنَا مِنَ الكَلاَمِ نَفِيساً
نَصْطَفِيهِwe select it لِجِيدِfor the neck of تِلكَthat الفَخَامَهgrandeur
نَصْطَفِيهِ لِجِيدِ تِلكَ الفَخَامَه
We know of no precious utterance
We have not known speech to be so precious,
To choose for the neck of such grandeur,
That we choose it for the excellence of that grandeur.
غَيرَexcept أنَّthat الكَمَالَperfection فيin الفَضْلِvirtue نَزْرٌrare
غَيرَ أنَّ الكَمَالَ في الفَضْلِ نَزْرٌ
حَازَهُattained it النَّزْرُthe few ثُمَّthen كُنتَyou were خِتَامَهits culmination
حَازَهُ النَّزْرُ ثُمَّ كُنتَ خِتَامَه
Save that perfection in virtue is rare;
Except that perfection in virtue is a little,
A few attained it; then you were its culmination.
The little has attained it, then you were its seal.
