May God give, from the fountain, what cures

Sickness outwardly apparent or lodged within the breast.

So, O you who cool yourself with its sweet water, pray thus

For him who has soothed the livers of your like in the heat.

Ali ibn al-Husayn has favored you with its like

Often, yet this is the rare gift of the age.

For it has embraced a tomb for his forebear

And his mosque; thus support for remembrance increased.

And at its completion it hinted that he

Is destined for good when people fear evil.

So after this he will see nothing that grieves him,

And within this lie safety and triumph together.

And this is a blessing no ruler has attained

In Tunis, either before or after this age.

And if you ask about the secret of the allusion,

Then the poem's opening gives the fountain's date: Safar of Good Fortune.
