وَلَقَد وَضَعتُكَ غيرَ مُتَّرِكٍ

وَلَقَد وَضَعتُكَ غيرَ مُتَّرِكٍ

من جابرٍ في بَيتِها الضَخمِ

من جابرٍ في بَيتِها الضَخمِ

And indeed I placed you, neglecting nothing,

I placed you not as one abandoned,

Among Jabir, in its mighty house.

In her spacious home by a companion.

واختَرتُ أُمَّكَ مِن نِسائِهم

واختَرتُ أُمَّكَ مِن نِسائِهم

وأَبوك كلُّ عَذَوَّرٍ شَهمِ

وأَبوك كلُّ عَذَوَّرٍ شَهمِ

And I chose your mother from among their women,

And I chose your mother from among their women,

And your father is every bit a fierce, noble-spirited man.

And your father, chief of the protectors and brave.

فَلَئن كَذَبتَ المَنحَ من مائةٍ

فَلَئن كَذَبتَ المَنحَ من مائةٍ

فَلَتَقبَلَن بِسائِغٍ وَخمِ

فَلَتَقبَلَن بِسائِغٍ وَخمِ

So if you withhold the loan of milch animals from a hundred,

So if you reject the gifts of a hundred,

You shall surely accept something easy to swallow yet unwholesome.

You will surely accept agreeable and modest gifts.

إنَّ النَدى والفَضلَ غايَتُنا

إنَّ النَدى والفَضلَ غايَتُنا

وَنَجاتُنا وَطريقُ مَن يَحمي

وَنَجاتُنا وَطريقُ مَن يَحمي

Indeed, generosity and excellence are our aim,

Generosity and excellence are our goals,

And our salvation, and the path of one who protects.

As well as our salvation, the path of one who protects.
