إذا طَلَعَتْ أنْجُمُ أزْهارِ

فحيَّ على حانةِ خَمّارِ

When the stars of blossoms rise,

When the stars of flowers rise

then hasten to a wine-seller’s tavern.

Greet the tavern keeper

وَمُرَّ بي إلى روضٍ رِبْعيّ

وَمُرَّ بي إلى روضٍ رِبْعيّ

سَقَاهُ وليٌّ بعدَ وَسْمِيّ

سَقَاهُ وليٌّ بعدَ وَسْمِيّ

And take me to a springtime garden,

And pass me by to a blooming garden

watered by later rain after the first autumn showers,

Where a friend waters it after poison

وألبستْهُ من كلِّ مَوْشِيّ

وألبستْهُ من كلِّ مَوْشِيّ

وَبُثَّت به خُضْرُ زَرَابيّ

وَبُثَّت به خُضْرُ زَرَابيّ

and clothed in every kind of embroidered finery,

And dresses it in fine garments

where green carpets were spread.

Sprinkling it with the green of youth
