فضحَتْكَ رائحةُ الذنوبِ بنتنِها

فتعطَّرَنْ منهنَّ باستغفارِ

The odor of sins has exposed you with its stench.

The stench of your sins exposes you,

So perfume yourself against them by seeking forgiveness.

So perfume yourself with seeking forgiveness.

ورقدتَ ليلَكَ آمِناً متمِهّلاً

ورقدتَ ليلَكَ آمِناً متمِهّلاً

ونَسِيتَ كيف طَوارِقُ الأسحارِ

ونَسِيتَ كيف طَوارِقُ الأسحارِ

And you slept through your night, secure and at ease,

You slept your night feeling safe and relaxed,

And forgot what the visitations of the predawn hours are like.

And forgot how the darkness before dawn surprises.
