    والروح بالجسم عند البعث يمتسكُ

    The body has an offshoot if its spirit enters it;

and the spirit holds fast to the body at resurrection.

Two spirits: this one has weight, and that one is without

weight; through it, motion in its bodies is completed.

Through this, bodies are subdued and stripped of

their colors, while they melt like water.

Water and fire are the two principles; they have been joined,

and nature is shared between the two opposites.

And heat comes from the smokeless flame of the fire that rose,

and in water, worms and fish were formed.

Our symbols, though like idle talk—whoever has gained

them with his two hands—be certain that he is a king.

They said: if you lack discernment, then

your teachers must guarantee their words and bear responsibility.
