إنّ الهواء به الحيا

إنّ الهواء به الحيا

ة وشأنه شأن عجيب

ة وشأنه شأن عجيب

Indeed, through air there is life,

The air is filled with life, it acts so strangely,

and its nature is a wondrous thing.

Its deeds are hidden and revealed unendingly,

يخفى ويظهر فعله

يخفى ويظهر فعله

فبعيده دان قريب

فبعيده دان قريب

It is hidden, yet its action is manifest;

From far and near its actions we can't see,

thus what is distant in it is near and close.

It has no color, yet takes on each color we perceive.

لا لون فيه وكله

لا لون فيه وكله

لون إذا نظر الأريب

لون إذا نظر الأريب

It has no color, yet all of it

It inherits heat and dampness, no tax does it pay,

is color when the discerning person looks.

From it our water condenses, the earth makes its way.

يرث الحرارة والرطو

يرث الحرارة والرطو

بة لا يحسّ له ضريب

بة لا يحسّ له ضريب

It inherits heat and moisture;

To fire it's an intimate neighbor and close friend,

no equal to it is perceived.

And with smoothness its foulness cannot offend.

منه تجسد ماؤنا

منه تجسد ماؤنا

وتروح الأرض الصليب

وتروح الأرض الصليب

From it our water took bodily form,

With its gentleness, paradise is fresh and wet,

and the hard earth turned to spirit.

The tender branch is made verdant, no fear of decay beset.

والنار جارتها على ال

والنار جارتها على ال

تحقيق وهو لها قريب

تحقيق وهو لها قريب

And fire is its neighbor, in

Glory to our Creator, whose ingenious creation confounds the wise.

truth, and air is close to it.

وبحرّه وعفونة

وبحرّه وعفونة

في طبعه ظهر الديب

في طبعه ظهر الديب

And through its heat and putrefaction

within its nature, the wolf appeared.

وبلطفه عذب الجَنا

وبلطفه عذب الجَنا

ة وأنضرَ الغصن الرطيب

ة وأنضرَ الغصن الرطيب

And through its subtlety the fruit grew sweet,

and the tender branch grew verdant.

سبحان خالقنا الذي

سبحان خالقنا الذي

في صنعه حار اللبيب

في صنعه حار اللبيب

Glory be to our Creator, whose

handiwork leaves the wise bewildered.
