قد كانت الأفلاك في بدئها

ضعيفة ليس بها كوكبُ

ضعيفة ليس بها كوكبُ

Indeed, the celestial spheres were, at their beginning,

The spheres were weak in their beginnings,

weak, with no star in them.

With no planets within them.

قيمها الشمس التي لم تزل

قيمها الشمس التي لم تزل

بالدور في أفلاكها ترأب

بالدور في أفلاكها ترأب

Their keeper was the sun, which never ceased

The sun, which has not ceased

to mend them by revolving in its spheres.

Revolving in its spheres, gave them value.

وماؤها يزخر في جوفها

وماؤها يزخر في جوفها

ولأرض في هاوية ترسبُ

ولأرض في هاوية ترسبُ

And their water surged within them,

And its water foamed within it,

and the earth settled in an abyss.

While earth settled in an abyss.

ودامت الشمس زماناً على ال

ماء وفوق الأرض لا تغربُ

And for a time the sun remained over the

وأطلعت أبخرة منهما

فابتدأت أفلاكها تصلبُ

And it brought forth vapors from them both,

Vapors arose from them both,

so its spheres began to harden.

And its spheres began to solidify.

واخترعت أنجمها أنفسا

واخترعت أنجمها أنفسا

مدبّرات شأنها معجبُ

مدبّرات شأنها معجبُ

And their stars created souls,

It originated its stars, wondrous

governing, wondrous in their nature.

Minds that ordain its affairs.

وكوّن الآثار علوية

وكوّن الآثار علوية

والمعدن المكروه والطيّبُ

والمعدن المكروه والطيّبُ

And celestial phenomena were formed,

And it formed the celestial bodies,

and minerals, the despised and the good.

The despised and precious metals.

وكل هذا أصله واحد

وكل هذا أصله واحد

منه التراكيب التي ركّبوا

منه التراكيب التي ركّبوا

And all this has a single origin,

All this has one origin,

from which came the compounds they compounded.

From it, the compositions they compiled.
