In mineral matters, we possess a wisdom,

In alchemy we have hidden wisdom

Hidden within breasts.

Concealed in our hearts

أعمالنا فيها وأسرارنا

وما سواها فمتاع الغرور

Our workings and our secrets lie within it,

Our deeds and secrets are within

And all else is but delusive enjoyment.

All else is fleeting vanity

لا شعرة نعني ولا بيضة

فعدّ عن تدبيرهم في الشعور

فعدّ عن تدبيرهم في الشعور

We mean neither a hair nor an egg,

We seek not a single hair or egg

So turn away from their treatment of hairs.

So cease their vain pursuits

وأخرج الأشياء عن طبعها

وأخرج الأشياء عن طبعها

فبالتصاعيد تصحّ الأمور

فبالتصاعيد تصحّ الأمور

And take things out of their natural state,

And extract things from their nature

For through sublimations matters are set right.

Through rising up things improve

وفي انقلاب الأرض عن طبعها

وفي انقلاب الأرض عن طبعها

غنى وملك دائم لا يبور

غنى وملك دائم لا يبور

And in earth's transformation from its natural state

In earth's inversion from its nature

Lie wealth and lasting dominion that never perishes.

Lie lasting riches that endure
