من رَغَبٍ ومن رَهَبْ

من رَغَبٍ ومن رَهَبْ

A night cloud has not left us without

A cloud that did not fail us

Longing and fear.

Of desire and of awe

فودْقُها وبَرْقُها

فودْقُها وبَرْقُها

ماءُ حياةٍ ولَهَبْ

ماءُ حياةٍ ولَهَبْ

For its rain and its lightning

Its dripping and lightning

Are water of life and flame.

Is water of life and flame

والوَدْقُ منها فِضَّةٌ

والوَدْقُ منها فِضَّةٌ

بيضاءُ والبَرْقُ ذَهَبْ

بيضاءُ والبَرْقُ ذَهَبْ

And the rain from it is silver—

Its dripping is silver

White—and the lightning is gold.

White, and its lightning is gold

إنْ نامَ جَفْنُ برقِها

إنْ نامَ جَفْنُ برقِها

صاحَ به الريحُ فَهَبّْ

صاحَ به الريحُ فَهَبّْ

If the eyelid of its lightning sleeps,

If the eyelid of its lightning slept

The wind cries out to it, and it wakes.

The wind woke it, so it drifted

أصبحتِ الأرضُ بها

أصبحتِ الأرضُ بها

غنيّةً مما تَهَبْ

غنيّةً مما تَهَبْ

Through it, the earth has become

With it the land became

Rich from what it bestows.

Rich from what it bestows

فالماءُ خمرٌ تُجْتَلَى

فالماءُ خمرٌ تُجْتَلَى

والماءُ مسكٌ مُنْتَهَبْ

والماءُ مسكٌ مُنْتَهَبْ

For the water is wine unveiled,

So the water is wine distilled

And the water is musk plundered.

And the water is inhaled musk
