And I would ransom with my lifeblood, O my reproachers, a slender youth

Who gathered all slenderness into his waist.

They took him captive from a frontier land, and now

My soul is captive to his eyes and mouth.

And by his life, had it not been for his face’s beauty,

My faith would not have bowed to the might of his unbelief.
