هذه ليلةً بها بهجةُ الطا

This is a night with the peacock’s splendor

in beauty, while its color is the raven’s.

رقد الدهرُ فانتبهنا وسارَقْ

ناهُ حظًّا من السرورِ الصافي

ناهُ حظًّا من السرورِ الصافي

Time slept, so we awoke and stole

from it a share of pure joy,

بمدامٍ صافٍ وخلٍّ مصافٍ

بمدامٍ صافٍ وخلٍّ مصافٍ

وحبيبٍ وافٍ وسعدٍ موافي

وحبيبٍ وافٍ وسعدٍ موافي

with clear wine and a sincere friend,

and a faithful beloved, and good fortune drawing near.
