قُلْ للمليكِ الأجَلِّ قَدْرا

قُلْ للمليكِ الأجَلِّ قَدْرا

لا زِلْتَ بَدْراً تحلُّ صَدْرا

لا زِلْتَ بَدْراً تحلُّ صَدْرا

Say to the king, most exalted in rank:

May you remain a full moon, occupying the place of honor.

إنِّي أُعزِّيكَ عن عزيزٍ

إنِّي أُعزِّيكَ عن عزيزٍ

كانَ لريبِ الزمانِ عُذْرا

كانَ لريبِ الزمانِ عُذْرا

Indeed, I offer you condolences for a dear one

Who was an excuse for the vicissitudes of time.

وكانَ طُهْراً فصارَ أَجْرا

وكانَ طُهْراً فصارَ أَجْرا

وكانَ ظَهْراً فصارَ ذُخْرا

وكانَ ظَهْراً فصارَ ذُخْرا

And he was purity, then became a reward;

And he was a support, then became a treasure in store.
