وأبلغُand more eloquent منthan عبدِʿAbd (servant of) الحميدِal-Ḥamīd (the Praiseworthy) وجعفرٍand Jaʿfar
وأبلغُ من عبدِ الحميدِ وجعفرٍ
ويحيىand Yaḥyā وإسماعيلَand Ismāʿīl أعنيI mean ابنَson of عبادِʿAbbād
ويحيى وإسماعيلَ أعني ابنَ عبادِ
More eloquent, too, than ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd and Jaʿfar,
And more eloquent than ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd and Jaʿfar,
than Yaḥyā and Ismāʿīl—I mean Ibn ʿAbbād.

فلاso may ... never زالَcease to be محروساًprotected ولاand may ... never زالَcease to be ذكرُهُhis renown
فلا زالَ محروساً ولا زالَ ذكرُهُ
وأخبارُهُand accounts of him أذكىmore fragrant منthan النَّدِّaromatic incense فيin النادِيthe assembly
وأخبارُهُ أذكى من النَّدِّ في النادِي
May he remain protected, and may his renown never cease;
So may he ever be protected, and may his renown
may tidings of him be more fragrant than incense in the assembly.
