وموقفٍ للوداعِ ألبَسَني

للتُّعْسِ همًّا يسوءُ موقعُهُ

للتُّعْسِ همًّا يسوءُ موقعُهُ

And a moment of farewell clothed me

And a moment of parting clothed me

To my misfortune, in sorrow whose impact was painful.

With sorrow, so ill-placed was its position.

فقلتُ والدمعُ قد شَرِمْتُ به

فقلتُ والدمعُ قد شَرِمْتُ به

أستودعُ اللهَ من أُودِّعُهُ

أستودعُ اللهَ من أُودِّعُهُ

So I said, already torn by tears:

I said, while my tears flowed copiously:

“I entrust to God the one I bid farewell to.”

"To God's protection I commend those I bid adieu."
