لِلهِ ما رضعت بَنُو صلاَّح

لِلهِ ما رضعت بَنُو صلاَّح

مِن ثَدِيهِ من حكمةٍ وصَلاَحِ

مِن ثَدِيهِ من حكمةٍ وصَلاَحِ

How wondrous, by God, is what the sons of Ṣallāḥ have suckled

The sons of Salah gained from His breast

From his breast: wisdom and righteousness,

Wisdom, righteousness, and noble quest

وتَعَلُّفٍ عما يشينُ ورِفعَةِ

وتَعَلُّفٍ عما يشينُ ورِفعَةِ

ومِلاَحِ أقوَالٍ وَنِيلِ فَلاَحِ

ومِلاَحِ أقوَالٍ وَنِيلِ فَلاَحِ

And [abstention] from what disgraces, and lofty rank,

Shunning what would their glory depress

And fine sayings, and the attainment of success.

And grasping speech that brings success

إنِّى لَزَائِرُهُم لِنَيلِ مَآرِبٍ

إنِّى لَزَائِرُهُم لِنَيلِ مَآرِبٍ

لَم أصغِ للواشِى ولا لِلاَّحِى

لَم أصغِ للواشِى ولا لِلاَّحِى

I surely visit them to attain my aims;

I visit them to gain my needs

I have heeded neither the slanderer nor the reproacher.

Not heeding slanderers' spiteful deeds

فبِجِدِّهم خاضوا بُحورَ معارف

فبِجِدِّهم خاضوا بُحورَ معارف

يوهِى تلاطمُها قُوَى المَلاَّحِ

يوهِى تلاطمُها قُوَى المَلاَّحِ

For through their diligence they plunged into seas of knowledge

With zeal they braved seas of knowledge

Whose surging weakens the sailor’s strength.

Turbulent waves no sailors could breach

وَتُلُوحُ في جَبَهَاتِهِم أنوَارُهُ

وَتُلُوحُ في جَبَهَاتِهِم أنوَارُهُ

لَمَّاحَةً كَتَلالُىءِ المِصبَاحِ

لَمَّاحَةً كَتَلالُىءِ المِصبَاحِ

And his lights shine upon their foreheads,

On their brows shine lights of His glow

Flashing like the gleam of a lamp.

Like lanterns shining bright as they go

فَاحَت لَهُم نَفَحاتُهُ فاستَنشَقُوا

فَاحَت لَهُم نَفَحاتُهُ فاستَنشَقُوا

نفحاتِ عَرفِ أَرِيجِه الفَوَّاحِ

نفحاتِ عَرفِ أَرِيجِه الفَوَّاحِ

His fragrant breezes wafted to them, and they inhaled

His fragrant breath to them is blown

The scented wafts of his far-spreading fragrance.

Drawing deep the scents He has sown

شَرِبُوا بِهِ رَاحَ الوَلاَية فَاعتلَوا

شَرِبُوا بِهِ رَاحَ الوَلاَية فَاعتلَوا

عَمَّا تَصُولُ النحلُ في الأَجبَاحِ

عَمَّا تَصُولُ النحلُ في الأَجبَاحِ

Through him they drank the wine of sainthood and rose

Drinking the wine of His guardianship

Above what the bees swarm over in the hives.

Transcending where bees range and skip

فَهُمُ سُكَارَى في مَحَبَّةِ رَبِّهم

فَهُمُ سُكَارَى في مَحَبَّةِ رَبِّهم

وَهُم مُجَانَبةُ الظُّهورِ صَوَاحِ

وَهُم مُجَانَبةُ الظُّهورِ صَوَاحِ

So they are drunk with love of their Lord,

Intoxicated with love of their Lord

Yet sober in their avoidance of public display.

Turning away from lies abhorred

يَا أيَّهَا الحُسَّادُ كُفُّوا عنهمُ

يَا أيَّهَا الحُسَّادُ كُفُّوا عنهمُ

فَعِنَادُ أَهلِ اللهِ غيرُ مُبَاحِ

فَعِنَادُ أَهلِ اللهِ غيرُ مُبَاحِ

O envious ones, leave them alone!

O envious ones leave them be

For opposing the people of God is not permitted.

Rivaling God's loved ones blasphemy

لا تُنكِرُوا ما قد حَوَوا حَسَداً وَلاَ

لا تُنكِرُوا ما قد حَوَوا حَسَداً وَلاَ

تَتَعَرَّضُوا لِمَوَاهِبِ الفَتَّاحِ

تَتَعَرَّضُوا لِمَوَاهِبِ الفَتَّاحِ

Do not deny, out of envy, what they have attained, nor

Deny not the gifts they obtained

Interfere with the gifts of the Opener.

Covet not what the Opener ordained

شاهدتمُ العاداتِ قد خُرِقَت لهم

شاهدتمُ العاداتِ قد خُرِقَت لهم

فَتَجَنَّبُوهُم تظفرُوا بِنَجَاحِ

فَتَجَنَّبُوهُم تظفرُوا بِنَجَاحِ

You have seen the ordinary course of things overturned for them;

You've seen them break conventions before

So leave them alone, and you will meet with success.

So avoid them and safety ensure
