إِذَاif كنتُI am مَشغُولاًoccupied بعِلمِwith the study of الفَرَانِسِFrench
إِذَا كنتُ مَشغُولاً بعِلمِ الفَرَانِسِ
ومِنand of دَرسِstudying عِلمِthe science of النَّحوِgrammar لَستَyou are not بِآيِسِdespairing
ومِن دَرسِ عِلمِ النَّحوِ لَستَ بِآيِسِ
If I am occupied with the study of French,
and you have not despaired of studying grammar,
فدونكَthen take for yourself ذَاthis الحَبرthe erudite scholar الجُنًَيدِيَal-Junaydi عَالِماًa learned man
فدونكَ ذَا الحَبر الجُنًَيدِيَ عَالِماً
وجددand renew منهماof the two كُلَّevery عافٍfaded thing ودَارِسِand effaced thing
وجدد منهما كُلَّ عافٍ ودَارِسِ
then turn to this erudite man, al-Junaydi, a learned scholar,
and renew in both all that has faded and been effaced.
