    واقبِضُ لستُ أخشَى أن أُعَابَا

    For my part, I have seen no fault in clasping the hands;

    and I clasp my hands, unafraid of being blamed.

    Nor did I fear backbiting over it—how

    could clasping the hands bring backbiting upon a man?

    And there is no evidence of ignorance in it,

    even if Mahand Baba did not clasp his hands.

    حَمِدنَا في إمَامَتِه المَآبا

    For Mahand Baba is our imam;

    we praised the outcome of his leadership.

    He illuminated the dark obscurities of knowledge,

    and tethered the unruly ones among its strays.

    In it, he had taken command of the field,

    and for the sons he had shaken out the bags.

    Thus they became stars; the bewildered are guided

    by them, so you will not be troubled by doubt, nor will you be blamed.

    Yet you did not follow him blindly

    when the authentic tradition cast off its garments.

    Nor did we deny the pillar of dawn, which revealed

    the horizon with its radiance and blazed brightly.
