نَعيبُwe find fault with زَمانَناour age وَالعَيبُand the fault فيناin us
وَماand not لِزَمانِناfor our age عَيبٌa fault سِواناexcept us
We blame our age, though the blame lies in us;
We find fault with our age, though the fault lies in us.
yet our age has no fault but us.
And our age has no fault but ourselves.
وَنَهجوand we revile ذاthis الزَمانِage بِغَيرِwithout ذَنبٍwrongdoing
وَلَوand if نَطَقَspoke الزَمانُthe age لَناto us هَجاناit would revile us
We revile this age for no fault of its own;
And we revile this age though it has done no wrong.
had the age a tongue, it would revile us.
And if the age spoke to us, it would revile us.
وَلَيسَand does not الذِئبُthe wolf يَأكُلُeat لَحمَthe flesh of ذِئبٍa wolf
وَيَأكُلُand eats بَعضُناsome of us بَعضاًothers عَياناin plain sight
A wolf does not eat the flesh of another wolf,
And the wolf does not eat a wolf’s flesh.
yet some of us devour others in plain sight.
Yet some of us eat others in plain sight.
