وَمُقامُ الفَتى عَلى الذُلِّ عارُ
I was told, “So-and-so has wronged you,
I was told that so-and-so grieves for you,
and for a young man to remain in humiliation is a disgrace.”
Yet for a man to bear humiliation is shameful.

دِيَةُ الذَنبِ عِندَنا الاِعتِذارُ
I said, “He has already come to me and offered an excuse;
I said: He came to make excuses,
for us, the blood money for a wrong is an apology.”
But in our view, confessing a sin is recompense.
