وَاحَسْرَةAlas, what sorrow! ً للفتىfor the young man ساعةan hour ً
وَاحَسْرَة ً للفتى ساعة ً
يَعِيشُهاhe lives through it بعَدafter أَوِدَّائِهhis dear friends
يَعِيشُها بعَد أَوِدَّائِه
Alas for the young man in an hour
he lives on after his dear friends!
عمرُlife الفتىof the young man لوif كانwere فيin كفِّهhis palm
عمرُ الفتى لو كان في كفِّه
رمىhe would cast away بهit بعدafter أحبَّائهِhis loved ones
رمى به بعد أحبَّائهِ
If the young man's life were in his palm,
he would cast it away after his loved ones.
