Who was the first to give alms while bowing,

one day, with his ring, while making a sign?

From that came God's words: 'Indeed, your guardian

after the Messenger'—to inform the people.

And at the Sirat Bridge you will see Ali standing,

calling his victorious ally to himself.

God gave Ali all of this,

and my Lord's bounty was not withheld.

And God married him to pure Fatima,

    in Tuba's shade, at a well-attended gathering.

The angels were there, as numerous as the pebbles,

Gabriel addressed them concerning her, rejoicing,

praying for him and for her; and his prayer

for their welfare was ever remembered.

When at last the preacher finished, shower followed shower:

Tuba rained down pearls, scattered abroad,

and showered rubies upon them at one time,

and at another showered pearls and pieces of gold.

Then you see the houri women snatching it up,

houris, in this emulating other houris.

Thus, until the Resurrection, a gift remains among them:

that scattered treasure, evening and early morning.
