توفّي النبيُّ عليه السلامُ

فلمّا تغيَّبَ في المَلْحَدِ

فلمّا تغيَّبَ في المَلْحَدِ

The Prophet passed away—peace be upon him.

The Prophet passed away in peace

Then, when he disappeared into the grave,

When he disappeared into the grave

أزالوا الوصيّةَ عن أقرَبيه

أزالوا الوصيّةَ عن أقرَبيه

إلى الأبعدِ الأبعدِ الأَبعدِ

إلى الأبعدِ الأبعدِ الأَبعدِ

They took the bequest away from his nearest kin

They took away his will from his closest kin

To the most distant, the most distant, the most distant.

To the furthest, the furthest of the far

وكادوا مواليهِ من بعدِه

وكادوا مواليهِ من بعدِه

فيا عينُ جودي ولا تَجمُدِ

فيا عينُ جودي ولا تَجمُدِ

And they plotted against his loyal followers after him.

And they almost destroyed his supporters after him

So, O eye, weep freely, and do not run dry.

Oh my eyes, be generous and do not freeze

وأولادُ بنتِ رسولِ الإله

وأولادُ بنتِ رسولِ الإله

يُضامون فيها ولم تُكْمَدِ

يُضامون فيها ولم تُكْمَدِ

And the children of the daughter of God's Messenger

The children of the Messenger of God

Are wronged in it, yet you have not been stricken with grief.

Are wronged in it, and it was not sealed

فهمْ بينَ قَتلى ومُستضعَفِ

فهمْ بينَ قَتلى ومُستضعَفِ

ومنعفرٍ في الثَّرى مُقْصَّدِ

ومنعفرٍ في الثَّرى مُقْصَّدِ

So some are slain, and some oppressed,

So they are between the slain and the weakened

And some lie dust-covered in the earth, mortally struck.

And the one buried in the ground, aimed at

فذكرُ النبيِّ وذكرُ الوصيِّ

فذكرُ النبيِّ وذكرُ الوصيِّ

وذكر المطهَّرِ ذي المَسْجدِ

وذكر المطهَّرِ ذي المَسْجدِ

So, remembrance of the Prophet, and remembrance of the appointed successor,

So the memory of the Prophet and the memory of the Trustee

And remembrance of the purified one, possessor of the mosque;

And the memory of the Purified, the one with the mosque

عظامُ الحلومِ حسانُ الوجوهِ

عظامُ الحلومِ حسانُ الوجوهِ

شمُّ العرانينَ والمَنْجَدِ

شمُّ العرانينَ والمَنْجَدِ

Great in forbearance, fair of face,

The bones of the flesh, the beautiful faces

Lofty of nose and shoulder.

The scent of meadows and gardens

ومن دَنسِ الرِّجسِ قد طُهِّروا

ومن دَنسِ الرِّجسِ قد طُهِّروا

فيا فضلَ من بهمُ يَهتدي

فيا فضلَ من بهمُ يَهتدي

And they have indeed been purified of the stain of defilement.

And from the filth of impurity they were purified

So, how great the merit of one who finds guidance through them!

Oh the virtue of those who are guided through them

هم حجج اللهِ في خلقِهِ

هم حجج اللهِ في خلقِهِ

عليهم هُدى كلِّ مستَرْشِدِ

عليهم هُدى كلِّ مستَرْشِدِ

They are God's proofs among His creation.

They are God's arguments among His creation

Upon them rests the guidance of every seeker.

Through them, every seeker of guidance is guided

بهم أُحْيِيَتْ سَننُ المرسلينَ

بهم أُحْيِيَتْ سَننُ المرسلينَ

على الرغم من أنُفِ الحُسَّدِ

على الرغم من أنُفِ الحُسَّدِ

Through them the ways of the messengers have been revived,

Through them, the ways of the Messengers were revived

In defiance of the envious, their noses humbled.

Despite the noses of the envious ones

فمن لم يصلِّ عليهم يَخِبْ

فمن لم يصلِّ عليهم يَخِبْ

إذا لقيَ اللهَ بالمَرْصَدِ

إذا لقيَ اللهَ بالمَرْصَدِ

So whoever does not invoke blessings upon them will fail

So whoever does not pray upon them will lose

When he meets God at the watchpost.
