كفّاه مهجةَ خيرِ الخلقِ إنسانا
May the Muradi's bounty never flow—he who spilled
With both hands the lifeblood of the finest human in creation.

Through what he undertook with his blow, he has become
Stripped bare of whatever Islam he had upon him.

He made heaven weep for a gate the slain man used to frequent
Within it; and the earth yearned for him with tender longing.

At times I say: the son of two accursed ones, a foundling
Of Iblis's offspring—rather, he was a devil.

Woe to his mother! What a curse she bore!
Certainly not as Imran ibn Hittan said.

A slave who bore a sin—had it been borne
By Thahlan for the blink of an eye, Thahlan would have been shattered.

Where he encounters various hues of God's torment.

Not since the earth's shoulders were subdued has there crept upon it
A creature whose scales are emptier of goodness than his.

ربٌ أتوا سُخْطَه فِسقاً وكُفرانا
Not even the she-camel's hamstringer, who brought Thamud to ruin—they had
A Lord whose wrath they incurred through wickedness and unbelief—

Of Habil, when the two presented an offering to God.

Rather, the Muradi is, in God's sight, the greatest of them
In disgrace, and the most wretched in soul and body.
