    I love the one who, when someone devoted to him dies,

    greets him with glad tidings at death, smiling.

    And whoever dies loving another from among his enemies

    has no path but to the Fire.

    O Abu Hasan, I would ransom you with my life and my family,

    and all that is mine, and all I now possess on earth.

    O Abu Hasan, I indeed know your excellence,

    and I surely hold fast to a cord of love for you.

    فإنّا نُعادي مُبغضيكَ ونَتركُ

    And you are the Chosen One’s appointed successor and his cousin;

    so we oppose those who hate you and forsake them.

    And a critic reproached me over Ali and his followers,

    so I said, “May God curse you! You are a fool.”

    وقاليكَ معروفُ الضَّلالةِ مُشرِكُ

    Whoever is loyal to you is saved—a believer, plainly guided;

    and whoever hates you is known for misguidance—a polytheist.
