منحتُ الهوى المحضَ منّي الوصيّا

منحتُ الهوى المحضَ منّي الوصيّا

ولا أمنحُ الودَّ إلاّ عليّا

ولا أمنحُ الودَّ إلاّ عليّا

I bestowed my pure love upon the appointed successor.

I gave unalloyed love to him as a trustee

And I grant my affection to none but Ali.

And I grant affection only to Ali

دعاني النبيُّ عليه السلامُ

دعاني النبيُّ عليه السلامُ

إلى حُبّه فأجبتُ النبيّا

إلى حُبّه فأجبتُ النبيّا

The Prophet—peace be upon him—called me

The Prophet called me - peace be upon him -

To love him, and I answered the Prophet.

To love him, so I obeyed the Prophet

فعاديتُ فيه وواليتُه

فعاديتُ فيه وواليتُه

وكنت لمولاهُ فيه وَليّا

وكنت لمولاهُ فيه وَليّا

So I showed enmity for his sake and gave him my loyalty,

Thus I opposed and befriended for his sake

And for his sake I was an ally to his ally.

And was a loyal friend to his master

أقام بخمٌّ بحيثُ الغديرُ

أقام بخمٌّ بحيثُ الغديرُ

فقالَ فأسمع صوتاً نَديّا

فقالَ فأسمع صوتاً نَديّا

He halted at Khumm, where the pool lay,

He stopped at a pool called Ghadir

Then he spoke, making a ringing voice heard:

And said - so I heard a loud call -

ألا ذا إذا مِتُّ مولاكُم

ألا ذا إذا مِتُّ مولاكُم

فأفهمَهُ العُرْبَ والأعجميّا

فأفهمَهُ العُرْبَ والأعجميّا

“Behold! When I die, this man is your master.”

"Now, when your master dies

So he made the Arabs and non-Arabs understand it.
