ألم يصلّ عليٌّ قبلَهم حِججاً

ألم يصلّ عليٌّ قبلَهم حِججاً

ووحّدَ الله ربَّ الشمسِ والقمرِ

ووحّدَ الله ربَّ الشمسِ والقمرِ

Did not Ali pray for years before them,

Did not Ali pray before them all

and affirm the oneness of God, Lord of the sun and moon?

And profess God as Lord of sun and star?

وهؤلاء ومن في حزبِ دينهمِ

وهؤلاء ومن في حزبِ دينهمِ

قومٌ صلاتُهم للعودِ والحَجَرِ

قومٌ صلاتُهم للعودِ والحَجَرِ

And these, and those in the party of their faith,

Yet this people and their partisan throng

are a people whose prayers are offered to wood and stone.

Worship but wood and stone that will not stir
