وكنتَ الخليفةَ دونَ الأنامِ

وكنتَ الخليفةَ دونَ الأنامِ

على أهلِهِ يوم يَغزو تَبوكا

على أهلِهِ يوم يَغزو تَبوكا

And you were the deputy, to the exclusion of all others,

over his household on the day he went on campaign to Tabuk,

غداةَ انتجاك وظَلَّ المطيُّ

غداةَ انتجاك وظَلَّ المطيُّ

بأكوارهم إذ هم قد رَأوكا

بأكوارهم إذ هم قد رَأوكا

the morning he spoke privately with you, while the riding camels remained

with their saddles on, when they had already seen you.

يَراك نجيّاً له المسلمونَ

يَراك نجيّاً له المسلمونَ

وكان الإلهُ الذي يَنتجيكا

وكان الإلهُ الذي يَنتجيكا

The Muslims see you as his confidant,

and it was God who spoke privately with you,

على فمِ أحمدَ يُوحي إليكَ

على فمِ أحمدَ يُوحي إليكَ

وأهلُ الضغائنِ مُسْتَشْرِفوكا

وأهلُ الضغائنِ مُسْتَشْرِفوكا

through Ahmad's mouth, imparting revelation to you,

while those harboring grudges gazed intently at you.
