عُقْبَى دَوائِكَ صِحَّةٌ تَغْشاكا

عُقْبَى دَوائِكَ صِحَّةٌ تَغْشاكا

وسَلامَةٌ تُشْجي قُلوبَ عِداكا

وسَلامَةٌ تُشْجي قُلوبَ عِداكا

May my own health—the fruit of your treatment—enfold you,

Your medicine's outcome is health that envelops you,

And well-being that wrings your enemies’ hearts;

And well-being that grieves your enemies' hearts,

وسَحابُ عافِيَةٍ يَعُمُّكَ وَبْلُها

وسَحابُ عافِيَةٍ يَعُمُّكَ وَبْلُها

سَعَةً كما عَمَّ العُفَاةَ نَداكا

سَعَةً كما عَمَّ العُفَاةَ نَداكا

And may a cloud of health drench you with its sweeping downpour,

And a cloud of wellness whose downpour drenches you,

Abundantly, as your bounty embraced all who sought it.

Abundantly, as your bounty embraced those seeking gifts.

داوَيْتَ جِسْماً طالَما داوَى الهُدى

داوَيْتَ جِسْماً طالَما داوَى الهُدى

تحتَ العَجاجِ وأمرَضَ الإِشراكا

تحتَ العَجاجِ وأمرَضَ الإِشراكا

You treated a body that long had nursed the true faith

You treated a body that so often healed right guidance

Beneath the battle-dust, and made idolatry sick.

Beneath the swirling dust, and sickened polytheism.

وأخذْتَ كأسَكَ والشِّفاءُ قَرينُها

وأخذْتَ كأسَكَ والشِّفاءُ قَرينُها

فلَوِ اسَتطاعَ تَحيَّةً حيَّاكا

فلَوِ اسَتطاعَ تَحيَّةً حيَّاكا

You took your draught, with healing as its companion;

And you took your cup, with healing its companion;

Had healing power to offer greetings, it would salute you.

So, if it could offer a greeting, it would greet you.

أَتَرى الذي داواكَ يَعْلَمُ أنَّهُ

أَتَرى الذي داواكَ يَعْلَمُ أنَّهُ

داوى الغَمامَ الجَوْدَ إذ داواكا

داوى الغَمامَ الجَوْدَ إذ داواكا

Do you think the one who treated you realizes

Do you think the one who treated you knows that he

That when he treated you, he treated bounty’s rain cloud?

Treated the rain-rich cloud when he treated you?

اللهُ حاطَ بِكَ الثُّغورَ وأهلَها

اللهُ حاطَ بِكَ الثُّغورَ وأهلَها

ورَآكَ واقيةَ الهُدى فَوَقاكا

ورَآكَ واقيةَ الهُدى فَوَقاكا

With you God has guarded the frontier forts and all their people;

God guarded the frontiers and their people through you,

He saw in you the true faith’s shield, and so shielded you.

And saw you as guidance's shield, so He shielded you.

فخَرَجْتَ من غَمَّائِه مُتوَقِّداً

فخَرَجْتَ من غَمَّائِه مُتوَقِّداً

طَلْقاً بِحَلْيِ الحَادِثاتِ سَناكا

طَلْقاً بِحَلْيِ الحَادِثاتِ سَناكا

So from the illness’s dark pall you emerged, blazing,

So you emerged from its gloom, blazing,

Your splendor unclouded, adorned with the jewels of ordeal.

Your radiance unclouded, adorned with adversity's ornaments.

أَنَّى يُصَفَّيكَ الدواءُ وشُربُه

أَنَّى يُصَفَّيكَ الدواءُ وشُربُه

وتَوَرُّدُ الغَمَراتِ قد صَفَّاكا

وتَوَرُّدُ الغَمَراتِ قد صَفَّاكا

How could medicine, and drinking it, refine you,

How can medicine and drinking it refine you,

When plunging into engulfing perils has already refined you?

When plunging into perilous depths has already refined you?

ومتَى شَكَتْ أعضاءُ جِسْمِكَ عِلَّةً

ومتَى شَكَتْ أعضاءُ جِسْمِكَ عِلَّةً

فدواؤُهُنَّ قِراعُكَ الفَتَّاكا

فدواؤُهُنَّ قِراعُكَ الفَتَّاكا

And when have you complained of an ailment in your body’s limbs,

And whenever your body's limbs complain of an ailment,

When their remedy is your deadly clash of arms?

Then their remedy is your deadly clash of swords.

يا سيفَ دينِ اللهِ ما استحيا الحَيا

يا سيفَ دينِ اللهِ ما استحيا الحَيا

إلاّ إذا جَاراكَ أو ناواكا

إلاّ إذا جَاراكَ أو ناواكا

O sword of God’s faith! The life-giving rain was never abashed

O sword of God's faith, rain feels no shame

Except when it vied with you—or stood against you.

Except when it vies with you or opposes you.

لا زلتَ لابسَ نعمةٍ فَضفاضَةٍ

لا زلتَ لابسَ نعمةٍ فَضفاضَةٍ

يَهْتَزُّ لا كِبْراً بها عِطْفاكا

يَهْتَزُّ لا كِبْراً بها عِطْفاكا

May you remain forever robed in an ample blessing,

May you ever be clothed in an ample blessing,

Your shoulders swaying in it, never out of pride.

Your two sides swaying in it, not out of pride.

واللهُ يُوليكَ السَّلامَةَ نِعْمَةً

واللهُ يُوليكَ السَّلامَةَ نِعْمَةً

ويُجيبُ فيكَ دُعاءَ مَنْ والاكا

ويُجيبُ فيكَ دُعاءَ مَنْ والاكا

And may God bestow well-being upon you as a blessing,

And may God bestow well-being upon you as a blessing,

And grant, in your favor, the prayer of everyone devoted to you.

And answer on your behalf the prayer of whoever is loyal to you.
