Go forth—may God gladden you in what you await.

For destiny has unfolded for you as you desire.

And four have secured for you what you hoped for:

Victory, conquest, good fortune, and triumph.

No sooner had your star risen to its highest station

than your enemies’ stars began to scatter.

And how can a thing you seek remain far off,

when God seeks it, and nomads and townsfolk too?

O Nasir al-Dawla, hasten to answer her,

for she has called you, and no murk clouds her clarity.

A reign renewed: no spearhead was bloodied to win it

glory, nor did the keen, hard-steeled sword adorn itself.

The gate of happiness is open to whoever enters it,

and you enter it, as do the illustrious lords.

So the kingdom smiles, and affairs are well ordered,

and time apologizes for the rule of scoundrels.

Why, then, do you wait, while the horizons gaze

toward you, and the radiant court is waiting?

And the full moon survived when the eclipse encircled it,

and fear and apprehension have left those who long for it.
