    فالغَيُّ في الرَّاحِ رَشَدْ

    Drink more wine, and still more;

For in wine, going astray is right guidance.

One with a nasal lilt passes it round,

Supple and graceful, swayed by his suppleness.

As though it were, in his palm,

    An ember of fire ablaze.

He stretched his hand toward it,

So it blazed up to his upper arm.

And the sky's Pleiades had almost

    Reached the western horizon,

As though they were a shābūra,

    Gilded, made of mail-links.
