Ah, son of Fahd, may you be spared death!

For you are generous, cultivated, and noble.

We turned the reins toward wine,

And Time had no reversals in store for us.

Then the stars of our pleasures vanished,

And eclipse overtook the sun of wine too soon.

So give generously of that in which joy

Finds life, and sorrow finds its deaths.

For none bestows wine but the generous,

And none exalts refinement but the refined.
