  1. وآمن من ندمه

    إذا سطا في حرمه

    And safe from his remorse,

    When he strikes within his sanctuary.

  2. محكم في دم من

    يعجز عن سفك دمه

    Given authority over the blood of one

    Whose blood he cannot shed.

  3. له حسام يرتجى

    إنعامه من نقمه

    He has a sword, and one hopes

    For its bounty through its acts of vengeance.

  4. وأفرخ ما هرمت

    حين دنا من هرمه

    And fledglings that did not grow old

    When he drew near his old age.

  5. يزقها فترتوي

    بالري من غير فمه

    He feeds them, and they drink their fill,

    With drink that does not come from his mouth.

  6. كأن من يخدمه

    في صبره من خدمه

    As though the one he serves

    Were, in his patience, one of his servants.
