نَطَقَت بِفضلِ أبي شُجاعٍ آيةٌ

نَطَقَت بِفضلِ أبي شُجاعٍ آيةٌ

وَسَمَت مَفاوزَ أرضِه بجَداولِ

وَسَمَت مَفاوزَ أرضِه بجَداولِ

A sign proclaimed the excellence of Abu Shujaʿ,

A verse spoke thanks to Abu Shuja's merit,

marking the deserts of his land with streams.

And traced the expanses of his land with streams.

وَطِئَ الصَّفا طيا آن فاغتدَى

وَطِئَ الصَّفا طيا آن فاغتدَى

ريّانَ يَضْحَكُ عن صَفاءِ مناهِل

ريّانَ يَضْحَكُ عن صَفاءِ مناهِل

He trod the smooth rock [text unclear], and it became

Safa was trodden with glory then was sated,

full of water, smiling to reveal clear springs.

Flowing, laughing, from the purity of springs.

واستنبطَ الشُّربَ الذي غَنِيَت به

واستنبطَ الشُّربَ الذي غَنِيَت به

شِيرازُ عن صَوبِ الغَمامِ الهاطِل

شِيرازُ عن صَوبِ الغَمامِ الهاطِل

And he drew forth the drinking water that freed

And it brought forth drinking water with which

Shiraz from dependence on the downpour of rain-shedding clouds.

Shiraz was enriched from clouds pouring down.

هيَ آيةٌ لك ذاعَ من إِعجازِها

هيَ آيةٌ لك ذاعَ من إِعجازِها

ما ذاعَ مِن مُوسَى الكليمِ الفاضِل

ما ذاعَ مِن مُوسَى الكليمِ الفاضِل

It is a sign of yours, whose miraculous power became renowned

It is a verse whose wonders have spread

as did that of virtuous Moses, who spoke with God.

As did miracles from the noble Moses.

وِردٌ شَفَيْتَ به البلادَ مِن الصَّدَا

وِردٌ شَفَيْتَ به البلادَ مِن الصَّدَا

وشَملْتَها نمه برَيٍّ شَامِل

وشَملْتَها نمه برَيٍّ شَامِل

A water supply with which you cured the land of thirst,

An abundance you have revived the lands with

and covered it [unclear word] with all-encompassing irrigation.

And blanketed them with rain far and wide.

وَهُدِيتَ منه لنعمةٍ مَكنونةٍ

وَهُدِيتَ منه لنعمةٍ مَكنونةٍ

فأَثَرْتَها مِن تُربةٍ وجَنادِل

فأَثَرْتَها مِن تُربةٍ وجَنادِل

And through it you were guided to a hidden blessing,

You were guided to a concealed blessing

so you brought it forth from soil and rocks.

Which you made flow from soil and buckets.
