أبليته في الغي وهو القشيب

O you who trail the hem of youth in passion,

O you who drags the tail of youth into passion

You have worn it out in waywardness while it was still new.

You have worn it out through heedlessness while still fresh

فاغسل بدمع العين ثوب التقى

ونقه من قبل عصر المشيب

ونقه من قبل عصر المشيب

So wash the garment of piety with the eye’s tears,

So wash with tears the garment of devotion

And cleanse it before the age of gray hair.

And cleanse it before the pressing of old age
