عمريthroughout my life وحاشاand far be it from فضلكYour bounty الغامرoverflowing
عمري وحاشا فضلك الغامر
O Lord, if I find no favor from You
Throughout my life—though far be that from Your overflowing bounty—
فعندthen at حفرِthe digging of القبرِthe grave لاdo not تنسنever forget
فعند حفرِ القبرِ لا تنسن
ياO حسنهhow fine it is نقداin ready cash علىon الحافرِthe hoof (punning on the digger)
يا حسنه نقدا على الحافرِ
Then, when the grave is dug, do not forget me:
How fine it would be—cash down, on the spot!
