  1. يا قلب إما وصله أو هجره

    والموت بين الوصل والهجران

    O heart, either union with him or his desertion;

    And death lies between union and estrangement.

  2. فاصبر على مضض الجفا في حبه

    أو قل أنا بالله والسلوان

    So endure the anguish of coldness in loving him,

    Or say, 'I take refuge in God and in solace.'
