Must a reproach from you distress me every day,
Do I face reproach from you every day
like a boulder hurled down from on high by the torrent?
Like a boulder placed by a flood from above?

And endlessly, falsely accusing me, you shoot
And you throw towards the horizon while dodging
your two arrows into the ten parts of a mortally wounded heart.
With your arrows at the heart of one already slain

So evening finds me in a night whose wing of darkness stretches
Thus I spend the night, so lengthy are its shadows
over me with every kind of sorrow, to put me to the test.
Upon me with all sorts of worries to be tested

And at dawn my heart, from anguish's blaze, seems
And I rise as if my heart from the coals of passion
to boil like a cauldron when its heat surges within.
When it boils over like a cooking pot

Its shards fly with my chest as though

يقولون لا تهلك أسى وتجمل
When my companions see the burning anguish within me,
When my companions see what passion does to me
they say, 'Do not perish from grief; bear it with dignity.
They say do not let your sorrow get out of hand

Be gentle and do not panic for one who deserted faithfulness
for lamenting an effaced trace brings no solace.'
For by the will of the days that pass there is no return

Whenever the eye looked upon you it eased up

Think of the army of betrayal returning
on a sleek, massive steed, a fetter for wild beasts.
With the tethered steeds of lasting ruins
