أقول وقد نامت على حر وجهها

أقول وقد نامت على حر وجهها

وما لي عليها في الظلام دبيبُ

وما لي عليها في الظلام دبيبُ

I say, as she lies asleep on her soft cheek,

I speak as sleep covers her hot cheek,

and I do not creep over her in the dark:

In the dark, I have no power over her.

وإن الكثيب الفرد من جانب الحمى

وإن الكثيب الفرد من جانب الحمى

إلى وإن لم آته لحبيب

إلى وإن لم آته لحبيب

Indeed, the solitary dune beside the sanctuary

The solitary sand dune on the edge of camp,

is dear to me, even if I have not visited it.

Though I do not visit it, is beloved.
