I seek God's forgiveness—except patience.

I ask God for forgiveness, patience is all I have

علماً بأن البؤس رهن الرخا

وغايةُ العمر إلى اليسر

Knowing that hardship is pledged to prosperity,

Knowing that misery is pledged to comfort

And life's end leads to ease.

And the end of life leads to ease

فقد يسل الشيف من غمده

ويخرج الدر من البحر

ويخرج الدر من البحر

For the sword may be drawn from its sheath,

The sword may slip out of its sheath

And pearls emerge from the sea,

And the pearl emerge from the sea

وتبرز الصهباء من دنها

وتبرز الصهباء من دنها

ويرجع النور إلى البدر

ويرجع النور إلى البدر

And tawny wine emerges from its jar,

The dawn may break from its gloom

And light returns to the full moon.
