وما شيءٌ يدور على

وما شيءٌ يدور على

نقيٍّ قلبه قاس

نقيٍّ قلبه قاس

And what is the thing that revolves around

Nothing pure has a heart

a pure one whose heart is hard?

That stays perpetually hard.

وكم ساقٍ يغص به

وكم ساقٍ يغص به

وهذا منيةُ الناسِ

وهذا منيةُ الناسِ

And many a cupbearer chokes on it,

Though legs may weaken and tire,

yet this is what people desire.

This is the fate of mankind.
