إِنّيindeed I لَعَمرُby the life of أَبيهِمtheir father لاnot أُصالِحُهُمI make peace with them
إِنّي لَعَمرُ أَبيهِم لا أُصالِحُهُم
حَتّىuntil يُصالِحَmakes peace with راعيthe shepherd of الثَلَّةِthe flock الذيبُthe wolf
حَتّى يُصالِحَ راعي الثَلَّةِ الذيبُ
Indeed, by their father's life, I will not make peace with them
By the life of their fathers, I will not reconcile with them,
Until the wolf makes peace with the flock's shepherd,
Until the shepherd of the wolf pack makes peace,
أَوor تَنجَليwithdraw الخَيلُthe horses عَنfrom قَتلىthe slain مُصَرَّعَةٍlaid low
أَو تَنجَلي الخَيلُ عَن قَتلى مُصَرَّعَةٍ
كَأَنَّهاas though they were خَشَبٌlogs بِالقاعِon the plain مَقطوبُheaped together
كَأَنَّها خَشَبٌ بِالقاعِ مَقطوبُ
Or the horses withdraw from the slain, laid low,
Or the horses retreat from the slain bodies,
As though they were logs heaped together on the plain.
Strewn about as if they were chopped wood on the ground.
