    كُلٌّ لِحِسانِها ذو مِقَةِ

    For spring, gardens have bloomed;

    All bear affection for their beauties.

    We beheld them in late afternoons, bewitching—

    Late afternoons in which they had grown serene.

    In their splendor, in their adornment,

    In what puts others to shame, they have captivated.

    Outshining the marvel of their beauties,

    A lamp whose rays have not faded,

    Bewitcher of the ornaments of their wonders,

    The radiance of pearls that have shown the way.

    O you who shame them, outshining them in beauty,

    The inhabitants of the two abodes have longed for you.

    O you who despoil them, wondrously captivating,

    Their utmost limits have found their end in you.

    قَد هِمنَ بِهِنَّ دُمىً هَوَتِ

    Your hills have appeared and become statues;

    Statues have become enamored of them and fallen.

    عَرفُ البُكراتِ بِهِ شَذَتِ

    The fragrance of predawn hours spread its scent at dusk;

    The fragrance of early mornings grew fragrant with it.

    عَمري بِفَقاعِسِها اِنتَشَتِ

    A lush, fertile tract has dunes;

    By my life, they grew intoxicated with its lions.
