سلوا فَلَجَ الأفلاجِ عنّا وعنكم

سلوا فَلَجَ الأفلاجِ عنّا وعنكم

وأَكمَةَ إِذ سالت سرارتُها دما

وأَكمَةَ إِذ سالت سرارتُها دما

Ask Falaj al-Aflaj about us and about you,

Ask the ravines of Al-Aflaj about us and yourselves,

and Akamah, when its lowlands ran with blood.

And Al-Akma when her secrets bled,

عشيَّةَ لو شئنا سَبَينا نساءَكُم

عشيَّةَ لو شئنا سَبَينا نساءَكُم

ولكن صَفَحنا عِزَّةً وتكرُّما

ولكن صَفَحنا عِزَّةً وتكرُّما

That evening, had we wished, we would have taken your women captive,

One evening we could have taken captive your women,

but we pardoned out of dignity and generosity.

But we forgave out of honor and nobility,

عشيَّةَ جاءت من عُقَيلٍ عِصابةٌ

عشيَّةَ جاءت من عُقَيلٍ عِصابةٌ

تقدَّمَ من أبطالِها مَن تقدَّما

تقدَّمَ من أبطالِها مَن تقدَّما

That evening, a band came from ʿUqayl;

One evening there came from Oqayl a band,

among its heroes, those who stepped forward took the lead.

Whose heroes advanced, as heroes advance.
