ومختبطٍ بَيَّتُ إِذ جاء طارقاً

ومختبطٍ بَيَّتُ إِذ جاء طارقاً

وأَحسنتُ مثواه وأَسررتُ ما يَهوَى

وأَحسنتُ مثواه وأَسررتُ ما يَهوَى

And many a seeker of aid I lodged when he came by night;

I made his lodging pleasant and kept secret what he desired.

فباتَ دَفِيّاً طاعِماً غيرَ مُؤَءَبٍ

فباتَ دَفِيّاً طاعِماً غيرَ مُؤَءَبٍ

الى أن غدا مُرغَى وأَعلنتُ ما يُروَى

الى أن غدا مُرغَى وأَعلنتُ ما يُروَى

So he spent the night warm and fed, without being shamed,

until he departed in the morning, given a camel; and I proclaimed what is worth recounting.
