I have not forgotten the midmorning sun gazing at me,

While we were fearful of being watched,

And my eyelid was choked with its tears,

When she appeared in a vivid red, safflower-dyed robe,

As though it were my tears and her cheek,

When the slanderers assailed us with their eyes.

Then she covered herself with her sleeve, bashfully,

Like the sun vanishing in the red of twilight.
