كأنَّهُas though he were الدهرُTime فيin إدراكreaching غابتهhis thicket
كأنَّهُ الدهرُ في إدراك غابته
أوor المناياdeath’s decrees إذاwhen جاءتthey come علىin عَجَلِhaste
أو المنايا إذا جاءت على عَجَلِ
As though he were Time in reaching his thicket,
Or death’s decrees when they come in haste.
