رَضِينَا بِقسمِ اللهِ إذْ كَانَ قِسْمَنَا

رَضِينَا بِقسمِ اللهِ إذْ كَانَ قِسْمَنَا

عَلِي وأَبْنَاءُ النَّبِيّ مُحَمَّدِ

عَلِي وأَبْنَاءُ النَّبِيّ مُحَمَّدِ

We were content with God's allotment, since our share was

We accept the judgement of Allah, since it was our destiny

وَقُلْنَا لَهُ أهْلاً وَسَهْلاً وَمَرْحَبَاً

وَقُلْنَا لَهُ أهْلاً وَسَهْلاً وَمَرْحَبَاً

نُقَبِّلْ يَدَيْهِ مِنْ هَوَى وَتَوددِ

نُقَبِّلْ يَدَيْهِ مِنْ هَوَى وَتَوددِ

And we said to him, 'Welcome, be at ease, and welcome!'

We bid him welcome and greetings

We kiss his hands out of love and affection.

فَمُرْنَا بِمَا تَرْضَى نُجِبْكَ إلى الرضَا

فَمُرْنَا بِمَا تَرْضَى نُجِبْكَ إلى الرضَا

بِصُمّ العَوَالِي والصَّفِيحِ المُهَنَّدِ

بِصُمّ العَوَالِي والصَّفِيحِ المُهَنَّدِ

So command us as you please; we will answer you to your satisfaction,

So command us with what satisfies you, we will obey happily

With stout long spears and broad blades of Indian steel,

With the clashing of swords and spears

وتَسْوِيدِ مَنْ سَوَّدْتَ غَيرَ مُدَافَعٍ

وتَسْوِيدِ مَنْ سَوَّدْتَ غَيرَ مُدَافَعٍ

وَإنْ كانَ منْ سَوَّدْتَ غَيْرَ مُسَوَّدِ

وَإنْ كانَ منْ سَوَّدْتَ غَيْرَ مُسَوَّدِ

And by making chief whomever you appoint, without opposition,

And the darkening of those you made dark, without objection

Even if the one you appoint was not previously a chief.

Even if those darkened were not meant to be darkened

فإنْ نِلتَ مَا تَهْوَى فَذَاكَ نُرِيدُهُ

فإنْ نِلتَ مَا تَهْوَى فَذَاكَ نُرِيدُهُ

وإنْ تُخْطِ مَا تَهْوَى فَغَيْرُ تَعَمُّدِ

وإنْ تُخْطِ مَا تَهْوَى فَغَيْرُ تَعَمُّدِ

So if you attain what you desire, that is what we want;

If you obtain what you desire, that is what we want

And if you miss what you desire, it is not deliberate.

And if you miss what you desire, it was not intentional
